Mosaic is a collection of artisanal throws and throw blankets that are a study in craftsmanship and comfort. Each piece is made of handwoven yarn dyed textile made by master artisans who bring generations of skill that reveal a rich depth of the signature handmade texture. Sujani
Throws
At the heart of this collection are our signature Sujani throws. The rare weaving technique involved in making these throws is believed to have originated in the mid-19th century in the western regions of India. Its technique is distinguished by a double-cloth weave in which two layers of fabric are woven simultaneously and interlocked at regular intervals so that small pockets are created between them. These pockets are then filled with cotton during the weaving process, not by quilting or stitching afterwards, but integrally in the loom.
Mosaic's luxuriously textured handwoven throws carry a natural weight from its cotton filling, allowing it to drape beautifully and envelop you like a warm embrace. The rich colors of our signature handmade tassel adornments add delicious drama that is striking, substantial and deeply comforting. Over time, the Sujni throw only grows more graceful, its fibers relaxing with use to reveal an even gentler hand and lived-in softness.
Over the last few years, Sujani has slowly slipped into the brink of extinction with only a handful of master artisans practising this technique. Our collection is a small step in trying to revive this exceptional craft for the future generations.
